What do you think about the most? What do you continually fill your mind with?? Opinions of others?? Do you fret and worry about what other people think of you? Do you obcessively think on something until it steals your peace??? Are you concerned with what is going on in the world around you and worried how it all may effect your life??
We all have to watch what we allow in our minds. Most probably do not think much about what they are thinking. Everyday things. Memories. But then thoughts of worry can creep in. Thoughts of doubt. Maybe even fears flash in our minds. Worries of what others think or others opinions.
What we think on really can effect our whole life. It can impact our attitudes. Our happiness. Our peace. Our faith. Our health.
Maybe you are someone who struggles with what is on their mind. Maybe worry. Maybe it consumes you at times the fears, the worries, even what others might think of you worrying. We can get so caught up in our minds. In our thoughts, in our fears. And that is exactly where the enemy wants to keep you.
God instructs us in His word on what to think on…. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, what so ever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8
There is a way to battle this. You can chose what you think on. It will take determination. But I know someone who helps me with that. When these thoughts and worries start to over come you, we have to look to God’s word. The truth. We have to see what God says to think on, we also have to know what He says about us….not what others say. When we start valuing others opinions, then we are devaluing God’s opinion. Did you read that? When we start valuing others opinions, then we are devaluing God’s opinion. Think on that.
Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. Philippians 4:9
When your mind starts to get full of worries. Push pause. Ask in Jesus name for Him to fill your mind with His thoughts. Start dwelling on His thoughts(His word). It will take practice. It will take time to form this habit. It takes time to stop and think I am not going to allow this to grow in my mind, I will think on Jesus. Breath. Breath again. Keep doing it, each time worries come into your mind.
When the battle is really hard, not only read His Word, Listen to His Word, Listen to Christian music. Be very mindful of what your mind dwells on. Fill it up with God’s Word.
No matter where we are on our journey or what is going on in this world, the TRUTH of GOD’s Word is what will get us through.
For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:11-13
Did you read that? He thinks thoughts of peace of us. It says right in God’s word that when we seek Him, we will find Him, when we search with all our heart. Seek and seek some more. He loves us. When we ask something in JESUS name, we can have confidence that He hears us and confidence that He is going to answer when it lines up with His word. We need to start thinking, God thinks peace toward me and He wants me to find Him. SO I have to get my thoughts lined up with His!! PEACE is what we need when are minds are all frazzled. He is thinking that toward us. Dwell on His word. Read His word. Memorize His word, then we know it when we need it. Pray scripture. “God, this is what your word says, help my unbelief. Help me to believe it. That you want me to have peace, In Jesus name”. As an example. http://thebrandedpath.com/the-way/
